Self Collection Centres
Food Distribution to Families
(Weekly Distribution)
Since May 2003 distribution centres
for needy individuals and families were set up in collaboration
with Resident Committees. During a certain time period
(7.30-9 pm) all registered families within the block are
invited to collect their share of bread and other non-perishable
food items. The RCs perform the evaluation of the family
situation and are responsible for updating their database,
which is shared as confidential information with us.
The centres are staffed
with 1 or 2 coordinators from the RC itself and about
2 to 4 of our volunteers, who do the hand out or the door
delivery (for those handicapped or too fragile to walk
down). FFTH ensures the sufficient food supply, but the
volunteer team works quite independently under a team
leader. The teams have been very stable since the start.
Status as of March 2009
